Acres of Diamonds

There was a farmer in Africa who was happy and content. He was happy because he was content. He was content because he was happy.

One day a wise man came to him and told him about the glory of diamonds and the power that goes along them.

The wise man says, ?If you had a diamond the size of your thumb, you could have your own city. If you had a diamond the size of your fist you could probably own your own country.? And then he went away.

That night the farmer couldn't sleep. He was unhappy and he was discontent. He was unhappy because he was discontent, and he was discontent because he was unhappy.

The next morning he made arrangements to sell off his farm, took care of his family and went in search of diamonds. He looked all over Africa and couldn't find any. He looked all through Europe and couldn?t find any. When he got to Spain, he was emotionally, physically and financially broke. He got so disheartened that he threw himself into the Barcelona River and committed suicide.

Back home, the person who had bought his farm was watering the camels at a stream that ran through the farm. Across the stream, the rays of the morning sun hit a stone and made it sparkle like a rainbow.

He thought it would look good on the mantelpiece. He picked up the stone and put it in the living room. That afternoon the wise man came and saw the stone sparkling. He asked, "Is Hafiz back?"

The new owner said, "No, why do you ask?" The wise man said, "Because that is a diamond. I recognize one when I see one." The man said, "No, that's just a stone I picked up from the stream. Come, I'll show you. There are many more.' They went and picked some samples and sent them for analysis. Sure enough, the stones were diamonds. They found that the farm was indeed covered with acres and acres of diamonds.

        你多大年纪how old are you

if we did not know our age, some of us would appear to be very young, and some of us would seem very old.

sometimes, people use age as a convenient excuse. ?i am too old to start something new,? or, ?i couldn?t learn that at my age.? other people, though, go on to achieve their greatest accomplishments in life in later years.

take, for example, colonel harland sanders who started franchising his chicken outlets when he was 65 years old, duanwenw.com up to the age of 90 years old he traveled 250000 miles a year visiting kfc franchises. he didn?t let age stand in his way!

feeling lead to attitudes, attitudes become beliefs, and beliefs become the basis for actions.

        感觉导致态度,态度变成信仰,信仰变成行动的根本。

        it is not important how old you are;

        多大年纪并不重要

it is how you feel, how you think, duanwenw.com

and what you do that is important.

to quote satchel paige, ?how old would you be if you didn?t know how old you was

an individual human life should belike a river生命应该像条河

whether sixty or sixteen, there is the desire of wonders, the endless pure desire of what?s next and the joy of the game of living in every human being?s heart.

in the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station: it receives messages of beauty, hope, pleasure, courage and power from men, and all these things keep you young.

an individual human life should be like a river ?small at first, narrowly contained within its banks and rushing passionately duanwenw.com past rocks and over waterfalls. gradually, the river grows wider and the banks fall back, the water flows more quietly. in the end, without any visible break, they come together in the sea and painlessly lose their individual being.

youth means courage over shyness and the adventurous spirit of deserting the love of ease. duanwenw.com this often exists in a man of sixty more than a boy of twenty. nobody grows old merely by a number of years. we grow old by deserting our ideals. years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up passion wrinkles the soul. worry, fear and self-distrust bow the heart and turn the spirit back into dust.

Find Yourself

Who are we? That is the first question. It’s a question that’s almost impossible to answer.

But we all agree that one’s busy or daily self is not quite one’s real self. We’re quite sure that we’ve lost something in the course of just making our living.。

A crowd is watching a person running about looking for something in a field, and a wise man asks, “What has that person lost?” Someone may guess a watch, another a diamond ring. When everyone has guessed, the wise man who like everyone else there has no idea, says, “I’ll tell you one thing for sure. He’s lost some breath.”

And no one can deny that he’s right. The point is that we often forget our true selves in pursuit of things that are external1 to us, like a bird forgetting its own danger in pursuit of a mantis, which in turn forgets its own danger in pursuit of some other prey.

Just Quit

Quit making excuses! Making excuses or blaming others for any situation in your life is nothing more than playing the victim.

Take responsibility! Make your life decisions, and if you don’t, then it’s your fault. You are a spiritual being in a physical body, and your spirit should run your life. Take it back! Make today the day you quit playing the victim by making excuses and blaming others for what happens to you.

Quit procrastinating! Cancer is not the most deadly killer; procrastination is. It kills dreams. It kills your future. Never use the phrase “I’ll try”. There is no such thing as trying. Pay attention when others use this phrase: ninety-nine percent of the time they do nothing. The words are just an easy way to fort oneself.

Quit thinking self-defeating thoughts! Quit thinking that you can’t do what you want to do. It’s not what you are that’s holding you back; it’s what you think you are. You were given all the equipment you need to acplish anything you desire. Use that power today.

As for bad habits: just quit! Take the challenge. Pick one, and quit it this week. Next week pick another, and so on. Improve your life by being a “quitter” now.

What is your most ideal day? Do you know exactly how you want to live your life for the next five days, five weeks, five months or five years? When was the last best day of your life? When is the next?

The best day of our lives is today. The past is no longer here. We cannot enjoy it any longer. To dwell on the past is to waste the opportunity to enjoy the present. The future is a promise, a time that will not e because what we have is only today. When tomorrow es, it will not be tomorrow any more; it bees your today. You cannot enjoy tomorrow unless you know how to enjoy your today. If you are to live thirty more years, you are going to experience 10,950 todays. But every day that passes without your notice is a day cut off from your life. Your life is a day shorter every new day.

Each day is a decision to live. Today is a gift; this is why it is called the "present". How you use this day is up to you. At each new day, you decide whether to unwrap that gift, or let it stay in the corner and spoil. Each day is a decision to live your ideal life.

A US dog lover bought her pampered French Poodle its own bathroom complete with a specially commissioned£500 painting.

The dog, named Pierre Deux, lives in an Indianapolis apartment with owners Ilia and James Macdonald. His toilet lid is wrapped in aqua chiffon with a purple feather boa border and the room is decorated with flower petals and a picture of Pierre's girlfriend, Gigi. He relieves himself on disposable nappies left on the floor.

"He's my baby, so he deserves the best," she told the Indianapolis Star. "My mother jokes that she wants to come back reincarnated as Pierre. There's no better life." The bathroom was the work of interior designer Lisa Fitzwater, she said: "It's kind of cool when you have a client who's creative and adventurous. I've done a hundred black and brown rooms. This was a lot more fun."

She commissioned artist Heather Cuthbert-Lutgring to create the painting which features a note, supposedly written by Pierre, saying he'd gone to Paris with his girlfriend but would be back by midnight.

        really celebrate Halloween

Sat Oct 25, 4:30 PM ET CAIRO (Reuters) - A Egyptian mummy, which is probably pharaoh Ramses I who ruled Egypt more than 3,000 years ago, returned home on Saturday from a U.S. museum after a journey that began with a 19th century grave robbery.

The body, which like that of other ancient Egyptian rulers would originally have been laid in a decorated tomb, was flown into Cairo airport carefully packed in a plain wooden crate.

Witnesses said the box was taken off the plane draped in an Egyptian flag. Zahi Hawass, secretary-general of Egypt's Supreme Council for Antiquities, accompanied the mummy on the flightThe Michael C. Carlos Museum in the U.S. city of Atlanta acquired the mummy in 1999 but offered to return it after studies by Egyptologists helped by hi-tech scanning equipment indicated it was probably Ramses I, the museum Web site said.

Ramses I was originally a military commander and is thought to have become a pharaoh around 1290 B.C. He ruled for just two years but founded Egypt's 19th dynasty, which included Ramses II, who was on the throne for several decades.

The mummy ? which bears striking facial resemblances to Seti I and Ramses II, Ramses I's immediate successors ? was acquired by the U.S. museum from a museum at Niagara Falls on the U.S.-Canadian border, the Carlos Museum Web site said.

It said a Canadian collector probably bought the corpse around 1860 for the Niagara Falls institution from an Egyptian family who had stumbled on a tomb filled with royal mummies around Deir el-Bahri, an ancient site near Luxor.

The Abdel-Rassul family sold treasures from the site for several years until they were discovered and the tomb officially revealed in 1881. The remaining cache included the empty coffin bearing the name of Ramses I, the Web site said.

It was not the first time Ramses I's body was disturbed.

He was originally buried in the nearby Valley of Kings, but tomb raiders emptied that grave in ancient times. Priests of a later pharaonic dynasty reburied Ramses I near Deir el-Bahri with the bodies of other rulers whose graves were pillaged.

First Lady

最早的"First Lady"的称谓是由"first lady of honor", "first lady of the Admiralty"演化而来,用来这些称呼指那些有影响力的杰出女性。1834年更出现了"first lady in (of) the land"的称呼。 She was so beautiful and so good, and not proud she! Though she looked like the first lady in the land."

She will never be forgotten because she was truly our First Lady for a half-century."

1911年,埃尔西-费格森主演的名为"Dolly Madison" (又名"The First Lady of the Land")的戏剧在纽约上演。 Mrs. Thomas E. Dewey discloses today what kind of first lady she will be."

       What a Busy Morning

With a sleeping look at the watch,

I repeated the time deep in my heart,"Twenty to seven."

It is the ability of the mind to build mental scenes, objects or events that do not exist at present or have never existed in the past. Memory is actually a sign of imagination. Everyone has some imaginative ability. In some it may be highly developed and in others it may appear quite weak. It appears in various degrees in various people.

Imagination gives us the ability to look at any situation from a different point of view, and enables one to mentally explore the past and the future. duanwenw A developed and strong imagination does not make you an impractical daydreamer. On the contrary, it strengthens your creative abilities and is a great tool for recreating your world and life.

Feeling of Youth

No young man believes he shall ever die.

There is a feeling of eternity in youth, which makes us feel as though we can achieve everything. To be young is to be as one of the immortal Gods.

A vast and endless scene lies before us. We can see no end to the landscape. Some new objects present themselves as we advance. So, at the beginning of life, we set no bounds to our interests or to the chances of satisfying them. We go on in this way forever. We look round in the new world, which is full of life, motion and progress; and feel in ourselves all the strength and spirit to keep pace with it.

It is the simplicity that identifies us with nature, and makes us mistake ourselves for being immortal like the nature. duanwenw During our lifetime we seem to spend a honeymoon in which there is no coldness, quarrel or separation. As babies *** ile in their sleep, we are rocked in the cradle of our way-ward fancies, and helped to sleep by the roar of the universe around us. We drink up the cup of life eagerly without spilling it. And our minds are filled with so strong desires that we have no room for the thoughts of death.

The Life I Desire

The Life I Desire,That must be the story of many couples, and the pattern of life it offers has a homely grace1.

It reminds you of a calm stream with little fish swimming freely up and down in it and birds flying in the sky. It winds *** oothly through green farms and is shaded by pleasant trees till at last it pours into the vast sea. However, the sea is so calm, so silent and so indifferent that you are troubled suddenly by an unclear uneasiness3. Perhaps it is only a bend in my nature, but it was strong in me even in those days.

I felt that there was something wrong in such a way of life, while the way of life was shared by most of people. I recognized4 the social value of this way of life. I saw its ordered happiness and I saw its nature of peace, calm and shyness, but a fever in my blood asked for a wilder course. There seemed to be something alarming in such easy delights. In my heart, my desire was to live more dangerously. I would go on expeditions through jungles which were filled with difficulties and danger. duanwenw I would fly on horseback through grasslands as fast as the horse could run. I would try to jump into the high sky and raft in the white water. I was always ready to climb rough rocks and steep cliffs.
